China's foreign minister, Wang Yi, has attended the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Brunei.
Wang noted that the Summit is a platform to promote East Asian cooperation and connect with other regions, like South Asia and the Pacific. The Chinese foreign minister also said the East Asia Summit should focus on development, and boosting regional integration.
Meanwhile, Wang said ASEAN's dialogue partners should support the development of an ASEAN Community. He added that as an active partner in Summit activities, China will push for the building of a China-East Asia Free Trade Area, as well as seek maritime cooperation.
