German automaker Volkswagen will recall 3,863 imported cars sold in the Chinese mainland due to gearbox flaws, according to a statement from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) Wednesday.
In April, the company recalled 384,181 vehicles with defective gearboxes in China. The new recall, which starts Wednesday, is a supplement to the one in April. Some of Volkswagen's imported Scirocco and Golf cars as well as some Audi models are included this time.
The gearbox flaw can cause problems such as a sudden loss of power while driving, said the AQSIQ.
