Hainan Airlines, China's fourth largest airline, was delivered the first of ten Boeing 787 Dreamliners on Thursday, according to the airline and the Boeing Company.
Mou Wei, vice president of Hainan Airlines, said the first 213-seat Dreamliner will serve the domestic route between Beijing and Haikou, capital of south China's Hainan Province, with 36 seats reserved for business class and 177 for economy.
The other nine Boeing 787s will serve international routes from Beijing to North American cities including Chicago, Toronto and Seattle, Mou added.
China Southern Airlines, another Chinese airline giant, conducted the country's first Boeing 787 flight on June 7.
