Taiwan's share prices closed 1.62 percent lower on Friday with the weighted index falling 132.85 points to close at 8,062.03, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 100.65 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 3.37 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.
