The United States Trade Representative Michael Froman hailed a World Trade Organization ruling concerning US broiler products exported to China as "an important victory today for America's farmers and for fair play in international trade".
"We prevailed in a WTO dispute against China's use of its trade laws to block exports of US chicken products into China's market."
The WTO upheld almost all the claims of the US in the dispute, concerning anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duty measures on broiler products from the US, and recommended that China bring its measures into conformity with its obligations under the Anti-Dumping Agreement and the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures.
China has 60 days to appeal.
