The eighth Shanghai International Stainless Steel Exposition (STEXPO 2013) will be held from Sept 4 to Sept 6 in Shanghai and is expected to boost the industry by setting up an information exchange platform for companies and investors.
The expo is held by the China Iron and Steel Association, the Metallurgical Council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Metallurgical Center for International Exchange and Cooperation.
China's stainless steel industry has developed rapidly in the past 10 years. Its annual output reached 16 million metric tons in 2012 and consumption was close to 12.88 million tons.
The country has become an important stainless steel producer and market in the world. However, it also is facing problems including technological innovation, energy-saving and emission reduction, quality improvement and application expansion.
The seven previous expos were successful, attracting the active participation of increasing numbers of domestic and foreign companies.
This year's expo will continue to promote industrial technology improvement and international trading, said the organizer.
