Yahoo China's e-mail service has been shut down from Monday, and all the information in the e-mail box has been deleted, as had been announced by Yahoo China in April.
Internet company Alibaba Group, which owns Yahoo's operation in China, has suggested users to move their data to the alternative e-mail box called Aliyun, but the service will only last till the end of 2014.
Yahoo entered into China in 1999.
The top three free e-mail services in China by visits are qq.com, 163.com, and sohu.com, leaving the yahoo e-mail service in the sixth rank with about 1.9 percent market share in China by March 2013, according to data from Internet consulting company Hitwise.
