Hong Kong's Financial Secretary John Tsang will leave for Russia on Sept. 3 to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Summit to be held in St Petersburg as part of the delegation of the People's Republic of China, the government said on Friday.
The 2013 G20 summit, scheduled on Sept. 5-6, will mainly discuss boosting economic growth and job creation, along with other topics like the latest developments in the global economy and financial system.
In addition to the G20 Leaders' Summit, meetings between Tsang and top Russian officials are also lined up to strengthen economic and financial ties between Hong Kong and Russia.
Tsang will return to Hong Kong on Sept. 8. In his absence, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury K C Chan will act as Financial Secretary.
