Wang Jianlin, chairman of Dalian Wanda Group, topped the Forbes China Rich List for the first time this year with personal wealth of 86 billion yuan ($14 billion), soaring up from 48.8 billion yuan last year.
Zong Qinghou, chairman of the beverage giant Wahaha Group, was dislodged from the top this year despite a fortune of of 68.3 billion yuan, up from the 61 billion yuan last year.
A total of 168 billionaires were shortlisted in the Forbes China 2013 Rich List, compared to 113 last year.
The total wealth of the shortlisted top 400 rich people amounted to 3.47 trillion yuan, up 35 percent year-on-year, according to the list, unveiled on Wednesday. The total wealth of the top 100 rich people surged 44 percent to over 1.92 trillion yuan.
The threshold for entering the list was 600 million yuan this year.
The third-richest person on this year's list was Li Yanhong, chief executive officer of China's largest search engine company Baidu Inc. His personal wealth increased 18.3 billion yuan to reach 67.7 billion yuan after several successful acquisitions.
