China is paying more attention to the quality of economic development as it is in transition from high-speed growth to medium-to-high growth, visiting former Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan said here on Thursday.
Zeng, currently vice chairman of board of directors of the Boao Forum for Asia, made the remarks when addressing a workshop on the economic situation in China, U.S. and the world, sponsored by Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
Zeng said that China needs to deepen reform and open wider to the outside world to tackle the problems emerging during the transition of development modes.
Building a mutually beneficial and win-win relationship will benefit both China and the U.S. as well as the world, Zeng said, adding that a new-type of economic and trade relationship between the two countries can be hoped for.
