Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaolion Monday told US Secretary of Energy Ernest J. Moniz that China and the United Statesshould cooperate more in the energy sector.
Zhang made the comment in his meeting with Moniz, who is in Beijing to attend an energy policy dialogue between China and the United States.
Zhang said China and the United States have cooperated soundly in the energy sector. "This time, China's National Energy Administration and the U.S. Department of Energy signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral energy policy dialogue."
He expressed hope that the two sides will take the advantage of this opportunity to carry out more practical cooperation and lift their cooperation in the energy sector to higher level.
Moniz said both the United States and China are major energy producers and consumers. He agreed that the two sides should deepen exchanges in the areas of non-traditional oil and gas, new energy and nuclear energy.
According to Zhang, China-U.S. relations have maintained stable growth. He said the two sides should act in line with the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinpingand President Barack Obamaby strengthening communication, coordination and cooperation in all areas so as to advance bilateral links in a sustained, healthy and stable way.
Zhang and Moniz also exchanged views on China's air pollution control and China-US collaboration on climate change.
