Deals worth $6 bln signed at cross-Straits fair

Deals worth an estimated 37.54 billion yuan (around 6.16 billion U.S. dollars) were signed during the sixth Cross-Strait Cultural Industry Fair, a Chinese mainland spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

In total, 126 investment deals were inked during the four-day fair, which concluded on Monday, in the coastal city of Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province, Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, told a regular press conference.

Transactions related to cultural products and services worth 740 million yuan were carried out on site, up 22 percent from last year.

This year's fair attracted 2,295 companies and cultural organizations across the Taiwan Strait. The number of Taiwan exhibitors reached 973, which represented a 59 percent increase on the previous fair.

First launched in 2008, the fair has become an important platform for cultural communication and cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
