The United States has exported a record amount of cranberries to China this year, up 86 percent year-on-year, according to the US Cranberry Marketing Committee.
"The China market is extremely important and we are committed to working with local partners to help launch more healthy products for this key global market," said Scott Soares, executive director of US Cranberry Marketing Committee.
As one of the most recognized and proven healthy fruits, research showed that cranberries can help reduce the risk of periodontitis, stomach ulcers and urinary tract infections.
The US CMC released its 2013 Report on Chinese Netizens' Fruit Product Preferences on Monday, which is a two-month online survey based on nearly 10,000 Chinese internet users' fruit knowledge and eating habits.
According to the report, 50 percent of consumers were aware of at least one of the US cranberries' health benefits.
"In China, cranberries used in snacks and baking products witnessed the most growth recently, and we expect that will continue," said Soares.
