The Chinese mainland has chosen 14 agencies to settle investment disputes between sides across the Taiwan Strait, a mainland spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

The agencies will offer services in mediation and settling investment compensation disputes between investors and other parties, said Fan Liqing, of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, at a press conference.

The agencies include the Mediation Center of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and its six subordinate centers in Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Hunan, Shaanxi and Xiamen. The other agencies are the investment dispute resolution center of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and its six subordinate centers in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hubei, as well as the southwestern and southern regions.

The agencies have been chosen in accordance with the cross-Strait agreement on investment protection and promotion, which took effect in February, according to Fan.
