Tianjin to control cars

Tianjin's municipal government said late Sunday that it will adopt both a car plate lottery and auction in a move to ease traffic congestion and improve local air quality.

The new measures take effect on Monday. The municipality will also adopt driving restrictions starting in March 2014. Cars with plates ending with certain numbers will be banned on certain days of the week.
