Wen Qingshan, chief accountant of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), the nation's largest oil and gas producer by output, submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday, saying his resignation was due to personal reasons, said the company's Shanghai-listed unit PetroChina.
PetroChina posted the statement late Tuesday, soon after an unnamed source was quoted by Reuters as saying that Wen was under graft investigation by authorities and was "taken away" last week together with Wang Lihua, CNPC's deputy chief economist.
