Russia's top gas producer Gazprom could sign a contract with China at the end of January 2014, CEO Alexei Miller was quoted as saying by the country's Interfax news agency on Tuesday.
In September, Gazprom and Chinese counterpart China National Petroleum Corp agreed on the basic terms of an agreement, including volumes, when deliveries should start, payment, and a "take-or-pay" amendment, but they failed to agree on the price.
