The Beijing Huairou International Conference Center, the venue for APEC 2014, is expected to become a national tourist attraction, authorities said.
The conference center, located in the scenic Yanqi Lake area of Beijing's Huairou district, around 50 km from downtown Beijing, is still under construction.
Chang Wei, head of Huairou district, said on Sunday at the current annual session of the Beijing People's Congress that the conference center will be built to the standard of a five-A tourist attraction — the highest level in China's official tourism quality system.
