China's State Council has not approved any new free trade zones besides the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), the Ministry of Commerce said late Friday.
Media reported Wednesday that China's central government had given the nod to 12 FTZs following the one launched in Shanghai. Tianjin Municipality, Guangdong Province as well as cities such as Chengdu, Wuhan and Hangzhou are among those said to have been given the approval.
