VAT might be extended

China's value-added tax reform could be expanded to the telecommunications sector as early as April this year, the Economic Information Daily newspaper reported Monday.

The report quoted insiders as saying that the telecom industry will adopt 11 percent tax after the reform, which will increase the burden on telecom enterprises, resulting in reduced profits.
