The China Cuisine Association said Saturday that the nation's dining revenue hit 2.54 trillion yuan ($418.64 billion) in 2013, a growth of 9 percent year-on-year, which is also a record low in the past 21 years.
The growth of revenue for high-end cuisine firms, those with annual revenue of above 2 million yuan, decreased by 1.8 percent from 2012.
In April 2013, the growth of the dining market fell to 7.9 percent year-on-year, the lowest level during the year.
The association attributed the slowdown to the government's ongoing anti-luxury policies. From the end of 2012, the nation has run a campaign to curb extravagant government spending.
