The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau rebuffed media reports claiming that the local transport authority had requested the capital city's taxi drivers to reduce the number of electronic devices they use to check taxi-hailing apps to no more than one.
The bureau said in a notice released late Wednesday that the reports are untrue and will reserve the right to bring legal action.
Drivers are often distracted while driving as they listen to voice broadcasts from different apps and weigh which passenger order to take, a concern shared both by the transport authority and passengers.
