China's total trade volume in goods ranked No.1 in the world in 2013 compared with 32nd in 1978, Ministry of Commerce Spokesman Shen Danyang said at a seminar held in Beijing on Wednesday.
The total volume increased 201 times from $20.6 billion in 1978 to about $4,160 billion in 2013, Shen said.
The proportion of China's trade in goods to the world total had grown from less than 1 percent in 1978 to about 12 percent in 2013, Shen said.
