Great Wall Motor is recalling 11,537 of its Wingle 4D20 pickup trucks in China because of a malfunction in the reverse gear, China's top quality watchdog said on Monday.
The recall, starting on Monday, involves vehicles produced between Jan. 10, 2013 and Nov. 11, 2013, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in an online statement.
The pickups recalled were subject to a defect in parts related to the reverse gear, which could cause failure in gear shifting during bumpy rides, leading to safety hazards, according to the statement.
Great Wall Motor is a homegrown SUV and pickup manufacturer in China, owning the Haval and Great Wall brands. It was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2003 and the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2011.
