China's growing number of cell phone users has led to a surge in data flow as more of them access mobile Internet via their phones, latest government data showed on Monday.
The number of cell phone users in the country hit 1.24 billion in January, up 6.16 million from December, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The increase has boosted mobile Internet traffic, which reached 133 million gigabytes in January, up 46.9 percent year on year, the data showed.
Business revenues of mobile telecommunications hit 69.52 billion yuan ($11.36 billion) in January, up 11.1 percent year on year.
