Gome.com.cn, the online marketplace operated by household appliance retailer Gome Electrical Appliance Group, launched a major discount promotion on Thursday to take on e-commerce retailer jd.com, one of its closest rivals.
Gome is reportedly spending 50 million yuan ($8 million) on the campaign focusing on sales of PCs and tablet devices.
Jd.com, which recently announced an alliance with domestic dotcom giant Tencent, is yet to make a counter-attack.
