A campaign to award the top 10 Chinese machinery manufacturers has been launched as part of efforts to boost exports of Chinese machinery products, organizers said.
The campaign, organized by Canton Fair E-commerce Co and Guangzhou Anton Technology Co, will invite global buyers to the twice- yearly China Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair, to vote for their favorite suppliers.
More than 6 million global buyers have registered with the Canton Fair, China's largest trade event, according to the organizers.
Exports of mechanical and electrical goods in China fell by 8.8 percent year-on-year to 1.71 trillion yuan ($274 billion) in the first three months, signaling a strong need to upgrade the industry, according to customs authorities.
"The award campaign will help boost domestic machinery makers' confidence to better tap the international market by promoting brands to more potential buyers," said Huang Qiuhong, vice-president of Canton Fair E-commerce Co.
