Japanese electronics company Sony will recall about 1,400 VAIO laptops sold in the Chinese market due to defective batteries, China's top quality supervisor said on Thursday.
The recall involves the company's VAIO Fit 11A multi-flip laptop computers sold in China from February to April, said a statement released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
Batteries in those laptops may become too hot and thus pose safety hazards, the statement said.
The company will either replace the batteries free of charge or offer refunds if users want to return their laptops, according to the statement.
