Carrefour, the world's second-largest retailer by sales, Thursday launched "Carrefour 2014 French Food Fair" to promote its self-owned food brand and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-French diplomatic relations.

The French Food Fair, which starts on Thursday and ends on May 15, will be launched in some 230 Carrefour stores on the Chinese mainland.

More celebrating activities will be carried out in Carrefour's China market in the coming months, said Eric Dubouchet, senior director with nation consumer goods of Carrefour China, during a press conference held in Beijing Thursday.

At the fair, which displays food imported from France, customers can buy Carrefour's high-end and self-owned "Reflets de France" brand products, including Bretagne apple juice and Normandy butter cookies.

"Reflets de France," which was established in 1996, has been partnering with small and medium-sized food producers from various regions in France.

"Alliance 7," a labor union organization, is another highlight of the Food Fair. The organization, which stands for some candy, biscuits and chocolate companies, has 57 kinds of products and 15 brands now. It is expected to add 50 seasonal products by the end of the year.
