A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said on Tuesday that China will coordinate with the international community to promote a sustained recovery and growth of the world economy.
The spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, made the remarks in response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel's recent remarks on China's support for Europe during European debt crisis, at a regular press conference.
European Union is the world's largest economy, and is also China's largest trading partner, she said, adding that the European debt problem is not only related to Europe itself, but also has important effects on other nations.
Since the debt crisis began, European countries, especially Germany, have taken a series of measures to mitigate the impact of the debt issue and have played a positive role in stabilizing the market and shoring up confidence, she said.
"China has been supporting Europe and Germany's efforts in coping with the crisis by concrete action," said Hua.
"We are glad to see that, recently, the debt issues appear to be on the road to recovery, and the governance mechanism of the debt issue has been cemented and pushed forward," she said, noting that the rebound of the European economy is conducive to the improvement of the economic situation in Europe and the world.
As the world economy still faces many uncertainties, China is willing to communicate and coordinate with the international society, including Germany, to safeguard global financial stability and oppose trade protectionism, in a bid to promote sustained recovery and growth, she said.
