Stock markets in the Chinese mainland began the week with a rise, and ChiNext gained for a sixth consecutive day.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index inched up by 6.91 points or 0.34 percent to 2,041.48 points on Monday. The Shenzhen Component Index edged up by 34.19 points or 0.47 percent to close at 7,275.11 points.
Combined turnover on the two bourses on Monday was 154.52 billion yuan ($24.77 billion), up from the previous trading day's 128.00 billion yuan.
Comments by President Xi Jinping during his visit to Shanghai over the weekend boosted stocks linked to medical equipment, aviation, and electric cars on Monday.
In his visit to a medical firm and an auto company on Saturday, Xi called for more domestic production of modern equipment and faster development of new-energy vehicles, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Warren Buffet-backed electric car maker BYD Co soared by the daily limit of 10 percent to 46.38 yuan and Sinomach Automobile Co climbed by 4.22 percent to 14.81 yuan on Monday.
Yabao Pharmaceutical Group Co gained by 6.42 percent to 9.28 yuan and Beijing Leadman Biochemistry Co jumped by the daily limit of 10 percent to 27.04 yuan.
Xi also called for development of the country's airplane industry in his visit to State-owned Commercial Aircraft Corp on Saturday.
AVIC Aircraft Co rose by 3.86 percent to 9.14 yuan and Jiangxi Hongdu Aviation Industry Co gained by 1.46 percent to 15.93 yuan on Monday.
ChiNext, China's NASDAQ-style board for high-tech and fast-growing start-ups listed in Shenzhen, continued to gain for a sixth consecutive day and moved back above the 1,300 level for the first time since May 7.
The index jumped by 24.76 points or 1.91 percent to 1,320.76 points on Monday.
