China's treasury bond futures opened mixed on Wednesday, with contract for settlement in June opening at 93.5 yuan (about 15.2 U.S. dollars), up 0.2 yuan from the previous trading day.
The contract for settlement in September opened flat at 93.9 yuan. The contract for settlement in December opened at 94.3 yuan, 0.1 yuan higher than the previous trading day.
The contracts are agreements to buy or sell treasury bonds at a predetermined price and set date. They allow investors to bet on or profit from the movements in the value of the bonds.
The treasury bond futures were launched at the Shanghai-based China Financial Futures Exchange and started trading on Sept. 6, 2013.
