China's treasury bond futures opened mixed on Tuesday, with contract for settlement in June opening 0.3 yuan lower at 94.1 yuan (about 15.25 U.S. dollars).
The contract for settlement in September opened 0.3 yuan higher at 94.5 yuan, and the December contract was up by 0.1 yuan to open at 94.9 yuan.
The contracts are agreements to buy or sell treasury bonds at a predetermined price and set date. They allow investors to bet on or profit from the movements in the value of the bonds.
The treasury bond futures were launched at the Shanghai-based China Financial Futures Exchange and started trading on Sept. 6, 2013.
