China treasury bond futures close mixed Tuesday

China's treasury bond futures closed mixed on Tuesday, with the contract for settlement in September closing at 94.5 yuan (15.49 U.S. dollars), down 0.16 percent.

The contract for settlement in December lost 0.16 percent to close at 94.9 yuan, while the March contract closed at 95.3 yuan, up 0.12 percent.

The contracts are agreements to buy or sell treasury bonds at a predetermined price and set date. They allow investors to bet on and profit from the movements in the value of the bonds.

The treasury bond futures were launched at the Shanghai-based China Financial Futures Exchange (CFFEX) and started trading on Sept. 6, 2013.
