China Mobile said Friday that the number of its 4G users has grown rapidly with 3.3 million new users in May, which boosts the total of 4G users to 8.1 million.
3G users have increased at a fairly lower rate with 4.3 million new users in May, bringing its current total to 236.24 million.
Li Yue, president of China Mobile, said that the company now owns more than 320,000 base stations covering 300 cities. At the end of this year, the company will have 500,000 base stations covering 340 cities, which will make it the biggest 4G network globally.
