China shall improve the pricing mechanism for agricultural products and let the market play a bigger role in pricing, according to a statement released after a State Council meeting chaired by Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday.
Li also called intensified efforts on the collection and storage of grain and building of grain storage infrastructure.
The continual growth in the grain output has put a strain on the nation's granaries, and some regions are faced with serious shortages, Li said.
New granaries with capacity of up to 50 billion kilograms of grain are planned for the 2014-15 period.
