China's customs authorities had investigated 7,313 cases of smuggling nationwide in the first five months of this year.
Of the total, 1,045 of them were criminal cases. Customs officials seized 385.1 kilograms of drugs in various types with 211 cases of smuggling drugs under investigation in the period, the General Administration of Customs said earlier this week.
A total number of 51 cases of smuggling weapons were under investigation in the period, with 96 firearms and 9,401 bullets seized by customs officials, said the administration.
China has been tough on cracking down on smuggling by launching series of campaigns in recent years.
