Popular news application Jinri Toutiao, or "today's headlines," has sued Sohu for slander, according to a post by Beijing Haidian District People's Court on its official Sina Weibo account Wednesday.
Jinri Toutiao is demanding that Sohu stop slandering it, offer a public apology and pay 1 million yuan ($164,000) in compensation. The court said it has accepted the case.
On June 24, Sohu sued Jinri Toutiao in the same court for intellectual property rights infringement.
Jinri Toutiao believes that Sohu's claim has not been ruled on by the court, so Sohu's behavior has damaged their reputation.
