Chinese machinery manufacturer Sany Heavy Industry said on Wednesday its US-based subsidiary's successful wind farm purchase appeal against US President Barack Obama was a "historic victory."

A US federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday (local time) that the US government violated rights of Ralls Corp. when it rejected the company's bid to purchase US wind farms.

"Sany and the affiliated Ralls welcomed the ruling, and are delighted to achieve such a historic victory," said Xiang Wenbo, president of Sany Heavy Industry Co.

Obama issued a presidential order in September 2012 to prevent Ralls from owning four wind farms in Oregon, citing national security risks as their locations were near the Naval Weapons Systems Training Facility.

Ralls sued Obama for blocking its purchase deal, claiming that the presidential order exceeded its constitutional rights and failed to provide detailed evidence.

The District of Columbia Circuit ruled that the presidential order, without due process of law, had deprived the company of its protected property interests valued at 6 million US dollars.
