China will raise the non-residential natural gas price by 0.4 yuan ($0.06) a cubic meter, starting from Sept, in order to improve industrial development and supply ability, said the National Development and Reform Commission on Tuesday.
The natural gas price for residential use stays unchanged.
Wang Xiaokun, analyst at domestic commodities consultancy Sublime China Information Co Ltd, told China Daily that the rise in the price of natural gas will lead to higher costs for companies, which may lead to a slower adoption of natural gas.
According to Wang, power generation using natural gas will rise 0.09 yuan a kilowatt after this rise in the price of natural gas.
