Prosecutors opened investigation into a former senior official with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for bribery, said the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) Friday.
Zhang Dongsheng, former head of the employment and income distribution division with the NDRC, was suspected of taking bribe, said a SPP statement.
Zhang has been "placed under coercive measures," the statement said.
According to China's criminal procedure law, coercive measures include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest. The SPP did not specify which measures have been taken so far.
