The Malaysian Product and Cultural Fair took place in Qingdao, Shandong Province, from August 6 to 15. Thanks to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, the Malaysian Embassy in China and the Qingdao Parkson Group, Qingdao citizens were able to enjoy and experience Malaysian products, shows and traditional Malaysian cuisine.
To deliver a better experience of Malaysian culture and products, the fair has integrated Malaysian brands from various fields, including food, tourism, education and agriculture.
This fair is just one move under the Malaysia Kitchen Programme (MKP), which aims to promote Malaysian restaurants overseas. In order to create a demand for Malaysian cuisine across the world, a promotional campaign has been launched. Qingdao is MKP's second destination in China after Beijing in which Malaysian cuisine is being promoted.
"Food is very important to our life and it is also a key element of MKP," explained Datuk Iskanda Sarudin, the Ambassador of Malaysia. "We are using food to build up relationships between Malaysia and China. Chinese friends will get to know the country and our culture better once they have a taste of Malaysian Food."
