Stock markets on the Chinese mainland gained on Tuesday backed by a rally in defense and liquor stocks.
The Shanghai Composite Index rose by 1.37 percent or 30.54 points to 2,266.05 points on Tuesday while the Shenzhen Component Index was up by 1.29 percent or 102.15 points to 8,043.31 points.
Combined turnover on the two bourses on Tuesday was 367.78 billion yuan ($59.82 billion), increasing from Monday's 262.63 billion yuan.
Stocks linked to defense continued recent upward streak, with aerospace firms leading the gains on Tuesday.
Beijing Aerospace Changfeng Co and Aerospace Communications Holdings Co both soared by 10 percent to 21.79 yuan and 16.74 yuan, respectively.
Liquor makers also rallied on Tuesday ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival holidays that begin this weekend. Wuliangye Yibin Co climbed 2.76 percent to 19.33 yuan and Sichuan Swellfun Co gained 1.98 percent to 8.74 yuan.
Financial companies made attractive gains on Tuesday. Hongyuan Securities added 6.52 percent to 12.41 yuan and Bank of Communications Co was up 4.35 percent to 4.35 yuan.
ChiNext, China's NASDAQ-style board for high-tech and start-ups listed in Shenzhen, gained by 0.84 percent or 12.19 points to 1,465.03 points.
