About 475 million Chinese travelled during the National Day holiday which ended on Tuesday, up 10.9 percent from the same period last year, official data showed.
They contributed to 245.3 billion yuan (40.21 billion U.S. dollars) in tourism revenue, up 15.7 percent year on year, according the China National Tourism Administration.
The data was collected by the administration and the National Bureau of Statistics in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on the Chinese mainland, during the holiday.
Among the tourists, 99.4 million spent at least one night at a hotel, up 5.9 percent year on year. About 375 million tourists travelled for less than one day, up 12.3 percent year on year.
