Yanqi Lake to host APEC

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leader's Meeting is scheduled to be held this November in Huairou district, in the northern suburbs of Beijing.

The illustrious Beijing Huairou International Conference Center, located at the scenic spot Yanqi Lake, has been chosen to host this summit of the world's top leaders.

To prepare for the summit, the administration office of Yanqi Lake and the district government have been renovating the scenic spot for more than half a year.

Entertainment facilities have been upgraded. The resort's mountain paths have been revamped to allow the summit's attendants to take breaks. In addition to that, more varieties of flowers and trees have also been planted at the site as well.

The meeting has brought more opportunities for the development to this scenic spot, according to the administration office.

Located eight kilometers north of Huairou district and at the foot of Yanshan Mountain, Yanqi Lake is noted for its picturesque scenery and diversified bird species. As the name suggests, Yanqi Lake refers to the lake of wide goose in Chinese, since flocks of birds migrate to the lake each year.
