Sina exec to resign from his post

Chen Tong, executive vice president and editor-in-chief of Sina Corp, the operator of popular Chinese Web portal sina.com.cn, said Wednesday on his Sina Weibo account that he will leave the company for undisclosed reasons.

The resignation application of Chen has been approved by the company, read an internal corporate e-mail issued on Wednesday, according to which the resignation is due to "personal reasons," without giving further details.

Chen had been working at Sina for 17 years. He will continue onboard as an advisor to the company after his resignation, Sina spokesman Liu Qi told the Global Times on Wednesday.

It is still unknown on what date Chen will officially resign and who is supposed to take over his position, according to Liu.
