German car producer BMW Group has achieved both sales and revenues growth in the third quarter and the first nine months, BMW announced Tuesday in Munich.
A total of 509,669 BMW automobiles has been sold from July to September, an increase of 5.8 percent year on year, said the car producer in a statement.
Group revenues of the Munich-based company in the third quarter also rises by 4.5 percent to 19.6 billion euros (24.5 billion U.S. dollars) compared to the same period of 2013, according to the statistics released in the statement.
However, group net profit in the third quarter is lower than the previous year, with 1.3 billion euros, a slight fall of 1.2 percent, due to higher income tax expense, according to BMW.
In addition, in the first nine months of the year, BMW sold 1.53 million automobiles, an increase of 6.5 percent year on year. Its nine-month group revenues come up to 57.7 billion euros, growing by 3.4 percent.
"We continued to perform well in both the third quarter and over nine-month period within an increasingly challenging environment," said Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the board of management. (1 euro = 1.25 U.S. dollars)
