China's post sector and express delivery companies received 88.6 million parcels on the online shopping festival day on Tuesday, which exceeded previous estimations, news portal people.com.cn reported on Wednesday.
The actual parcel volume on Tuesday was 15 percent higher than State Post Bureau's prediction, the report said, speculating that total parcel volume from Tuesday to Sunday will reach 586 million pieces, with 70 percent year-on-year growth, according to the report.
Tuesday, on which the online shopping day fell this year, is not a peak day for logistics, Liu Jun, deputy director of State Post Bureau, was quoted as saying by the report, noting the peak parcel sending days are from Wednesday to Friday.
Faced by the pressure, the State Post Bureau has cooperated with online vendors and express companies to disperse the parcel delivery load, the report said.
