Gold futures on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange went down slightly Monday as the U.S. dollar strengthened ahead of the country's biggest holiday shopping weekend.
The most active gold contract for December delivery lost 2 U.S. dollars, or 0.17 percent, to settle at 1,195.7 dollars per ounce.
