Danish companies are looking to explore concrete business opportunities in clean technology in China's capital, which will help the Danish capital city's economy get back on track after being hit by the global financial crisis, Frank Jensen, the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, said on Thursday in Beijing.

Jensen kicked off his four-day Beijing visit on Wednesday, in relation to which several export promotion tours have been arranged representing more than 20 companies and organizations in a variety of clean technology sectors.

Copenhagen, as a frontrunner in green growth, looks forward to forging partnerships with Beijing, which became a sister city of Copenhagen in 2012, in sustainable solutions and technology, helping reduce carbon emissions in the Chinese capital, Jensen said in an interview with the Global Times on Thursday.

New solutions being sought to achieve quality and green growth in the two capitals can also be spread to other big cities creating more business opportunities in this field, said Jensen.

He also revealed that a memorandum of understanding on water management was signed on Wednesday after meeting his Beijing counterpart Wang Anshun.

Noting that Copenhagen is also open to Chinese investors, Jensen disclosed plans to meet with Air China, the Chinese national flag carrier, discussing the establishment of direct routes between the two capitals in the coming years.
